In all of today’s organizations, work structures are built around effective team work. Team work has a lot of benefits: increased productivity, higher motivation and morale, understanding of and investment in the organizational goals, greater job satisfaction and commitment, less friction between workers, increased customer satisfaction and loyalty, and greater sharing of responsibilities and reward. But team development occurs in stages of growth. Furthermore, though there is no “I” in team, not everyone is a natural team player and approaches team engagement with different styles – each needing to be blended and managed. There are also many warning signs that a team is in trouble and their manager needs to know how to make them more cohesive. They need to know the characteristics of an effective team and how they can connect, communicate and empower their employees to be a creative team.
